Vinegar Hill

It's nearly wildflower time but we are wary of leaving it too late into bushfire time for our walk at Vinegar Hill. We made the mistake this time of trying to drive further along the fenceline, instead of parking at the intersection where Waller road turns downhill. This is a 20 minute walk to the start of the ridge track out to Vinegar Hill. This time we descended from the cars through some mud puddles, then made a further mistake of taking the first fork left which took us out onto a spur NW of Vinegar Hill. It was fortuitous as the plants were lovely out there. After smoko on some rocks we descended into the creek and up the right spur past orchids in flower, flannel flowers in bud, wattles and other bright flowers. We decided not to go on to Vinegar Hill, wondering if it could match the delights we had seen as our memories tend to a more drab scene out there apart from the views. We had lunch on some grass at the intersection before heading home. Apparently it was overcast at home but we had a nice morning out.
