Contouring the escarpment
We dropped a car at Harvey St near Mt Lofty then drove down to Picnic Point at 8 am on Sunday morning, leaving the second car at Tobruk Drive. The Firetail path down to the bridle path may still be officially closed as it has had a lot of land slips over the old bitumen surface. We then walked along the bridle path to Stevenson st which is a nice narrow bitumen road past a few houses to the highway. It was not difficult to cross the highway to the Redwood park section of the bridle trail which is a lot more undulating and quite a steep climb to regain altitude at Prince Henry Heights. We next chose to take the bridle trail along the western edge of Jubilee Park to Harvey St. It was a total of 7.9 km and almost 2 hours on a lovely sunny morning. Back at home the cool westerly wind was coming in but we had been sheltered from that. Next time we might park at Harvey street and walk a loop on the trails in that section. It would also be nice to commence the walk on the Firetail track on the northern side of Picnic Point park.
