We walked from Picnic Point Kiosk to Tabletop last Tuesday which was a good test of climbing and descent fitness. On Wednesday I had a good stretch at Yoga and loosened up with aqua aerobics and laps on Thursday morning, followed by Scottish Country dancing, so it became a good week of exercise by the time we had returned on Sunday to do an alternate walk from Neil and Ian's book.
We started up at the Kiosk area and took the path below the lookout, down the Firetail track to the road and out to the start of the climb to Tabletop.
Here we turned north along a fenceline and found ourselves on an old road across the contours. It was a bit overgrown with some fallen trees. We then turned west up a spur towards Picnic Point, passing not far from the end of Tabletop Drive. It was a good steady climb back up to the walking track below Picnic Point which we then followed to the north and zigzagging up to our car and coffee and cake on the grass with the tourists who had emerged by then. It will be good to return in a few weeks and do it in reverse.
