Easter walks

We drove up to Jindabyne on Easter Saturday and had two nights there with some very good day walks. On Saturday we walked south from Dead Horse Gap with a picnic lunch among rocks and views of ranges.
We rose early Sunday morning leaving Jindabyne by 7.30 and reaching Charlotte Pass an hour later as the sun caught the tree tops. As it was the end of daylight saving, we then changed our watches and started our walk at 7.30, descending in cloud to the Snowy River, then up the other side, a long way before we emerged to sunlight on the surrounding range. It was quiet with only a couple of other people out. We walked the circuit stopping for a snack overlooking the Blue Lake, the another overlooking the tarn, then joined the crowds walking in from Thredbo to ascend Kosciusko and find a spot for lunch. On the return walk along the old road to Charlotte Pass, we stopped at the bridge and had another lunch and I dipped my feet in the river for old times sake. It was a lovely day out, followed by beer on the deck of our cabin among the tree foliage.
On Monday morning we again got away in good time, although the clocks had changed, and found ourselves climbing up from Guthega power station before anyone was about. At Horse Camp Hut, three campers were packing up and we stopped for a bite, then followed the aqueduct track towards Schlink, but turned back before that as it was not pleasant on the road. We took the aqueduct track on the other side of the valley back through some badly burnt snowgums to lunch at Disappointment Spur hut before descending to our car by about 1.30 pm.
So we were back in Canberra in quite good time that afternoon after about 54 km of walking.
