Cricket

Our family tradition continued last week with a day at the First Test at the Gabba. Lee provided the tickets and flew up on Thursday evening. We drove down early on Friday morning and, as we had to go past the Gabba to get to Jim's, I jumped out and was able to get in when the gates opened at 8.30 am and watch the warm-ups. It is a pleasant time of day to sit there.
It turned out to be an exciting day of play with Haydn out first ball, Ponting going cheaply and Mr Cricket dubiously. There were also some great catches from Roy. It was a hot day but we did not find it so.
We took the buses back to Jim's then dropped him at a party at Rainworth before driving home with Lee. We stopped for a steak at Plainlands hotel to complete the day. Once again, Lee ran into an old school friend who now lives near the hotel.
We picked the best day as it was all over by Sunday morning.
